Kentish Town teacher in awards final
A teacher at a Kentish Town school has been named as a finalist at the 2009 Teaching Awards.
Kim Walker, who teaches at Torriano Infant School will battle it out in the final stage of the competition in the category for Special Needs Teacher of the Year, at a ceremony held at Central Hall, Westminster on Tuesday 23 June.
The Teaching Awards will focus on finalists - headteachers, teachers, teaching assistants, governors and sustainable schools from across London. Each of the 12 winners will receive a Plato - the Teaching Awards symbol of excellence in education.
Caroline Evans, chief executive of the Teaching Awards, said: “The Teaching Awards ceremony is an opportunity to witness the skill, devotion, passion and professionalism that teachers bring to their work.
“The influence of these outstanding individuals on the lives of children and their families cannot be underestimated. Society needs to recognise their impact and thank them wholeheartedly for the important contribution that they make,” Evans added.
